Inspired by classic festive flavours, Gin No.1 features warming notes of orange peel, allspice, nutmeg, and a medley of botanicals built around juniper. With orange and juniper leading the nose and palate, followed by winter spice and a subtle hint of star anise, this hot cocktail is perfect for those cosy evenings by the fire.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Gin No.1 (or your preferred spiced gin)

  • 15 ml Fresh Lemon Juice (approx. half a lemon)

  • 2 tsp Demerara or Caster Sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 200 ml Hot Water

  • Garnish: Lemon Peel or Wheel

  • Optional Extras: 1 Cinnamon Stick (for stirring)

Method

  1. Fill a heatproof glass or mug with hot water and let it sit for a minute. Discard the water.

  2. Add the gin, lemon juice, and sugar to the warmed glass. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.

  3. Slowly pour in the hot water, stirring gently to combine.

  4. Add a twist of lemon peel or a lemon wheel. Optionally, float a clove in the drink or stir with a cinnamon stick. Finish with a light dusting of freshly grated nutmeg, if desired.

Serving Suggestion

Best served in a handled glass mug or toddy glass. Ideal for festive nights, winter gatherings, or simply curling up by the fire.
